Unvented Hot Water Cylinder

Unvented hot water cylinders have soared in popularity and can now be found in most homes across the UK. Connected directly to your mains water system, unvented cylinders ensure copious amounts of stored hot water is available on demand and they operate at mains pressure to offer much higher flow rates. This allows you to enjoy improved shower and bath performance all year round! Whilst more space is needed than a Combi boiler they are more efficient and therefore cost effective.

Has your cylinder been serviced in the last 12 months?

The industry standard for servicing an Unvented hot water cylinder is every 12 months by a G3 registered engineer. Unlike more conventional boilers, there is a greater service need as the water is stored in a sealed, pressurised vessel at high temperatures. A regular service will protect your manufactures warranty, maintain efficient performance, and reduce the risk of a potentially costly breakdown and collateral damage to your property.

Three key reasons why LDF would recommend an Unvented Boiler System.

1. Unvented hot water cylinders are a great space-saving option as they use a mains supply and don't require a feeder tank in the loft. By not needing a feeder tank, you can have the cylinder installed anywhere within the property.

2. An Unvented system will supply your home with stronger water pressure than older, more conventional boilers and vented systems, assuming you have good water pressure at the mains. Stronger water pressure is essential for homes or properties with simultaneous demands for hot water.

3. Unvented systems are more energy-efficient and low-maintenance than conventional systems due to the removal of a cold water tank and the use of an immersion heater or heating element.

Vented Hot Water Cylinder

Vented cylinders are generally found in more traditional properties. They are also known as gravity-fed hot water systems, as they rely on gravity and the height of the cold water tank to dictate the pressure. The greater the height, the more powerful the water pressure.

Unlike an Unvented system, getting your cylinder serviced annually is optional. However, a service every 12 months is still generally recommended as it will ensure your heating system is as energy-efficient as possible.
